The penultimate round of the GT and Sports Car Cup took place last weekend as part of the Dijon Motors Cup meeting.
The Austin Healey 3000 of Jeremy Welch and co-driver Martyn Corfield qualified in 7th place, comfortably the fastest GT3 class car, and 5 seconds quicker than the next placed Austin Healey. Jeremy Welch started the driving, and racing against a number of significantly more powerful cars ran as high as 5th before the mandatory pit stop.
After 2 hours and 67 laps of the Dijon circuit, the pairing would eventually finish 1st in class, 10th overall, and the highest placed Austin Healey. It's the 4th time that Welch and Corfield have finished as class winners this year, a great result.
Formula Junior Lurani Trophy
The final two races of 2016 saw plenty of action for the Denis Welch Motorsport powered cars. The Lotus 22 of Manfredo Rossi di Montelera took the win in race one with Mark Pangborn's Lotus 20B taking 6th. Race two saw the 4 leading drivers, including Rossi di Montelera come together in a racing incident on lap one, Pangborn would finish on the podium in third.
These results mean that Rossi di Montelera finishes 1st and Pangborn 2nd in the E1 class for 2016.
